Job summary

Mico in Hawera is hiring a friendly Trade Counter assistant on a permanent full-time basis. You will greet customers, help with stock, deliveries and general branch duties, contributing to a smooth-running trade counter.

Working Monday to Friday, 7:30am–4:30pm (42.5 hours/week). A competitive hourly rate, staff-buying privileges and development opportunities are offered, with plumbing background helpful but not essential. A NZ driver licence is required.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a customer service and/or retail sales environment.
• Plumbing background will be ideal but not essential if you are keen to learn.
• There will be manual handling, and some heavy lifting required so you’ll need to be physically fit.
• Have a Full clean NZ driver licence.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport to support our valued customers.
• A motivated, self-driven worker, with the skill to work proactively, independently and under pressure.
• Be confident with computers and learning new systems.

Reporting to the Branch Manager, this is a varied role where no two days are the same. While most of your time will be spent serving customers on the Trade Counter, you’ll also pitch in across the branch—helping with stock counts, shelf replenishment, deliveries, and general branch duties as needed.

To shine in this role, you’ll need to be an organised and reliable team player who enjoys working in a close-knit team. Have a customer-focused and outgoing attitude and good work ethic.
