Nectar Money is seeking an experienced Credit Controller for a 4-5 month fixed-term contract in Auckland. You will own day-to-day arrears management, work directly with customers to resolve overdue accounts, and ensure compliant collections practices.

You will handle negotiations, review supporting documentation, and maintain accurate debtor records while collaborating with leadership and third-party agencies when needed.

• Minimum 3 years' experience in credit control, collections, or arrears management within lending.
• Experience supporting customers across a range of credit profiles.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Proven ability to manage difficult conversations while maintaining positive customer relationships.
• Sound analytical and problem-solving skills alongside critical thinking.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.

• Manage collections activity across Nectar's personal loan portfolio
• Contact customers regarding overdue payments via phone, email, and other communication channels
• Review of bank statements and other supporting documentation to determine appropriate repayment solutions and collection strategies
• Negotiate payment arrangements and repayment plans
• Conduct investigations into account discrepancies and payment issues
• Maintain accurate customer account records and collection notes
• Complete debtor ledger reconciliations and reporting
• Monitor arrears performance and provide regular updates to leadership
• Liaise with third-party collections agencies when required
• Deliver professional, respectful, and compliant customer interactions
• Ensure all collection activities are conducted in accordance with relevant legislation and company policies

We're looking for an experienced Credit Controller to join our team on a 4-5 month fixed-term contract and help manage our arrears portfolio while delivering positive customer outcomes.

Reporting to the Credit Supervisor, you will play a key role in supporting customers experiencing repayment difficulties, managing overdue accounts, and maintaining strong collection processes across our lending portfolio.

About the Role

As our Credit Controller, you will take ownership of the day-to-day management of overdue accounts, working directly with customers to resolve arrears, maintain repayment commitments, and achieve positive outcomes for both the customer and the business. As the first point of contact for repayment enquiries, you'll handle collections conversations with a firm, fair, and respectful approach, balancing strong customer service with effective arrears management.

Key Responsibilities

What We're Looking For

• Minimum 3 years' experience in credit control, collections, or arrears management within the personal /consumer lending sector


• Experience supporting customers across a range of credit profiles


• Strong negotiation and communication skills, both written and verbal


• Proven ability to manage difficult conversations while maintaining positive customer relationships.


• Sound analytical and problem-solving skills alongside critical thinking


• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records


• Confidence reviewing financial information, including bank statements and affordability indicators


• Well-developed computer skills and ability to learn new systems quickly


• Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities

Highly Regarded

• Experience with court collections or recovery processes.


• Knowledge of New Zealand consumer lending and collections requirements.


• Experience working with third-party collections providers.
