Sprig + Fern The Meadows in Nelson is seeking an experienced Assistant Bar Manager to support day-to-day operations of our craft beer tavern. You will work with the owners to oversee bar operations, supervise staff, maintain service standards, and ensure NZ licensing compliance.

The role requires leadership, strong communication, and the ability to manage stock, rostering, cash handling, and customer relations while delivering high venue standards and events support.

Qualifications

• NZ Duty Manager’s Certificate is required.
• Minimum three years of hospitality management experience.
• Experience supervising staff and managing hospitality operations.
• Knowledge of liquor licensing and responsible service.
• Willing to work evenings, weekends and public holidays.
• Craft beer knowledge is advantageous.

Responsabilités

• Assist with daily venue management and smooth operations.
• Supervise, train, and support staff.
• Assist with rostering and task delegation.
• Oversee opening and closing procedures.
• Manage stock control, ordering, stocktakes, and wastage.
• Assist with cash handling and end-of-day reconciliations.
• Ensure liquor licensing, responsible service, health and safety, and food safety compliance.
• Handle customer enquiries and complaints professionally.
• Assist with events, promotions, and maintaining high venue standards.
• Communicate operational matters to management.
• Create great customer relationships.
