Job summary

Habit Group's Manukau branch seeks an empathetic and experienced counsellor for a fixed-term 10-month role, 0.8 FTE (32 hours per week). The position offers in-person, video and telehealth counselling with worksite visits and employee training opportunities.

Applicants should have a tertiary Level 7 Counselling qualification and current NZ registration (NZAC, DAPAANZ or NZCCA), plus at least five years post‑study counselling experience.

Qualifications

• Strong sense of others with empathy and sensitivity.
• Experience with trauma intervention and psychological first aid desirable.
• Ability to work independently and attend on-sites for counseling.
• Knowledge of evidence-based therapies (CBT, SFT, FACT) desirable.

Responsibilities

• Deliver focused counselling interventions for clients to utilise coping mechanisms.
• Visit worksites to provide support after events or disruptions.
• Deliver counselling via in-person, video and telehealth.
• Provide training to customer employees.

This is a 10-month fixed-term office based position working 0.8 FTE (Monday-Friday ,32 hours per week).

Main responsibilities:

• Deliver focused interventions enabling clients to utilise healthcoping mechanisms at work and life
• Visit worksites to provide support after an event disruption
• Deliver counselling services via in-person, video and telehealth
• Deliver training to customer employees

The ideal candidate:

• A strong sense of others – we’re looking for sensitivity and empathy as traits
• Current APC with NZAC, DAPAANZ, SWRB or NZCCA
• Tertiary level 7 Counselling or related qualificationanda minimum of five years of post-study experience in general counselling is required.
• Knowledge of evidence-based therapy models e.g. SFT, CBT, FACT is desirable
• Can work independently and attend on-sites for psychological first aid
• Experience in trauma intervention, psychological first-aid
