Job summary

Greater Wellington Regional Council is seeking a motivated Coordinator to join the Pedal Ready team in Wellington. This permanent part-time role (18 hours per week) is based in our central Wellington office and operates as a job share with another Coordinator.

You will plan, coordinate and deliver the Pedal Ready programme, support instructors, manage resources and ensure training is delivered safely across the region, working closely with schools, NZTA Waka Kotahi and community groups.

Greater Wellington Regional Council – Wellington Central, North Island

We are looking for a motivated and highly organised Coordinator to join our Pedal Ready team. This is a permanent part-time position of 18 hours per week, based in our central Wellington office.

This role operates as a job share with another Coordinator who works 22 hours per week. Together you'll share responsibility for planning, coordinating and delivering the team's work programme. Working within Greater Wellington's Regional Transport team, you'll coordinate a network of instructors, build strong relationships with schools, workplaces and community groups, and champion active transport through high-quality education and training programmes.

About the role:

This is a varied role that combines programme coordination, stakeholder engagement and hands‑on delivery. You'll be responsible for planning and improving the Pedal Ready programme, supporting instructors, managing programme resources, and ensuring training is delivered safely and effectively across the region.

You’ll work closely with schools, councils, NZTA Waka Kotahi, community organisations and other partners to grow participation and encourage safer cycling.

Your hours of work will be spread over four days as follows:

Monday - 6 hours

Tuesday - 3 hours

Wednesday - 3 hours

Thursday - 6 hours

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain strong relationships with schools, workplaces, councils and community organisations.
• Recruit, train, support and develop a team of contractor instructors.

• NZQA Level 4 Qualification in Cycle Skills Training (or willing to achieve this)

The remuneration for this position, pro-rated for part‑time hours and inclusive of all benefits, is $80,647 to $120,971, with a midpoint of $100,809. Starting remuneration will depend on the skills and experience of the successful applicant.
