Job summary

Parehua Resort in Martinborough is seeking a friendly Conference & Events Coordinator for a 12‑month fixed‑term maternity cover. You’ll manage front‑of‑house operations for conferences and events, acting as the first point of contact for clients and guests while delivering a warm, professional welcome.

No two days are the same: you’ll coordinate inquiries, prepare proposals and confirmations, and work with our operations team to ensure seamless guest experiences. Training is provided.

Qualifications

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and organised Conference & Events Coordinator to join our team at Parehua Resort, one of the Wairarapa’s leading boutique destinations.

This is a fixed-term position providing parental leave cover. The term of employment may be extended if the parental leave period is extended or if the need for fixed-term cover continues.

From corporate conferences and retreats to intimate celebrations and special events, you’ll play a key role in ensuring every occasion is seamless from enquiry through to delivery.

Set amongst beautiful vineyards and gardens on the edge of Martinborough, Parehua Resort offers boutique accommodation, conference facilities, and York Bistro & Bar. We pride ourselves on delivering genuine hospitality and creating memorable experiences for every guest.

About the Role

No two days are the same. You'll be responsible for managing front-of-house operations for conferences and events, acting as the first point of contact for clients and guests while delivering a warm, professional welcome. You'll manage conference and event enquiries, prepare proposals and confirmations, coordinate every detail with our operational teams, and ensure our guests receive exceptional service throughout their experience.

You'll build strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and colleagues, helping to create seamless events that leave a lasting impression.

We’re Looking for Someone Who:

Has previous experience in hospitality, tourism or a customer service environment.

Loves providing exceptional customer service and enjoys working with people.

Is highly organised with excellent attention to detail.

Can confidently multitask and prioritise in a busy environment.

Shows initiative, takes ownership of their work and is happy to get stuck in.

Has excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Works well independently and as part of a close-knit team.

Is enthusiastic and willing to learn. You don’t need previous conference or event experience – we’re looking for the right attitude and a solid hospitality background.
