Job summary

Access is seeking an Experienced Support Worker in East Christchurch to provide person-centred care to a single client across a 24/7 roster. You’ll support daily routines, mobility, nutrition, and community engagement, with a focus on culturally safe, respectful care and flexible hours to suit your lifestyle.

You will join a compassionate team dedicated to equitable support, with training pathways and ongoing development through Access Kaiāwhina framework.

Qualifications

• Warm, patient, and genuinely caring approach.
• Hold a Level 3 or Level 4 Health and Wellbeing qualification or equivalent experience.
• Experience supporting spinal cord injury and bowel management or manual bowel care.
• Confident with hoists and safe handling of complex needs.

Responsibilities

• Personal care and daily routines (morning and evening).
• Mobility support, transfers, and safe use of hoists (as trained).
• Passive exercises and positioning to support comfort and wellbeing.
• Meal preparation and nutritional support.
• Community outings, companionship, and supporting social connection.
