Jora New Zealand is seeking part-time and casual Community Support Workers to join our West Auckland residential homes, supporting people with varying needs to live fulfilling lives.

We value compassionate, empathetic care grounded in our agape-based approach and welcome applicants who share our commitment to person-driven support, with flexibility for weekday, evening, weekend shifts and occasional sleepovers.

Qualifications

  • Full NZ driver’s licence is essential.
  • Eligibility to work in NZ is essential.
  • Experience in disability or mental health support work desirable but not essential.
  • Level 3-4 qualification (or equivalent) desirable.
  • Commitment to the Treaty of Waitangi and culturally appropriate practice.
  • Knowledge of Enabling Good Lives principles desirable.
  • Experience managing aggression/identifying potential aggression desirable.
  • Experience completing personal care responsibilities desirable.
  • Solution-focused approach to issues.
  • Loving, empathetic and kind interactions.

Responsibilities

  • Support people in residential homes to lead fulfilling lives.
  • Work on a rostered basis across weekday, evening and weekend shifts.
  • Availability for 1–2 sleepovers per week.
  • Provide compassionate and respectful daily support to clients.

What we need

With a current period of growth, we are seeking part-time and casual Community Support Workers to work within our West Auckland residential homes that support people who experience an intellectual disability. The people we support have diverse abilities and varying levels of need. We are looking for employees who will support our vision and values of serving with unconditional and selfless love (agape) to support people in leading fulfilling lives. We welcome applicants who share our commitment in being "person-driven" and who are comfortable working from a Christian values base.

Hours of work

We are looking for flexible candidates that are available to work on a rostered basis across weekday, evening and weekend shifts on a part-time or casual basis. Additionally, we also require availability for 1 - 2 sleepovers per week.

Experience Required

We are seeking open and inclusive people with a non-judgmental attitude who can work with empathy and resilience to support and encourage our clients in going about their daily lives.

Ideal attributes include:

A full NZ Drivers Licence is essential

Existing eligibility to work in NZ is essential

Experience in disability or mental health support work is desirable but not essential

A level 3-4 qualification (or equivalent) in related field is desirable but not essential

A demonstrated commitment to the Treaty of Waitangi and culturally appropriate practice
