Job summary

eQUIP in Auckland is seeking a Community Support Worker to empower tangata whai ora to engage with their community and pursue meaningful goals. This full-time, on-site role focuses on wellbeing, independence, and collaborative care within a multi-disciplinary team.

Ideal candidates hold a NZ driver licence and the NZ Certificate in Health and Wellbeing Level 4 (Mental Health & Addiction Support) or are willing to start study within six months. Strong communication and IT skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Holds a clean, full NZ driver licence.
• NZ Certificate in Health and Wellbeing Level 4 (Mental Health and Addiction Support) or willingness to commence study within six months.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and advocacy skills.
• Strong tech skills including Microsoft Office and database work.
• Ability to work independently and within a multi-disciplinary team.

Office location

You will be based at our North Shore office at Windsor Park.

Role

As a Community Support Worker (CSW), you will work autonomously with tangata whai ora, supporting them to engage with and remain connected to their chosen community. You will help them work towards self-directed goals, regain independence, maintain wellbeing, and achieve their fullest potential and quality of life. The CSW role includes participating in support and needs assessments, goal setting, and risk management. The role also involves working collaboratively with whānau/family and within a multi-disciplinary framework alongside Community Mental Health Centres. You will attend regular clinical review meetings with mental health clinicians and other professionals.

Requirements

• Hold a clean, full NZ driver licence.
• Hold the New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing Level 4, Mental Health and Addiction Support strand (or a recognised equivalent), or be willing to commence study towards this qualification within six months of employment.
• Have excellent communication, interpersonal, and advocacy skills.
• Have strong technology skills, including experience using Microsoft Office products and working with databases.
• Be able to work both independently and collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary setting.
• Have a sound knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and be able to demonstrate bicultural concepts in practice, or be willing to learn.
• Be a NZ resident or hold a valid NZ work visa.
• Speaking Te Reo Māori would be an advantage.
• Have an interest in Māori and Pasifika customs and cultural norms.
