Job summary

Healthvision is seeking dedicated community support workers across Northland to assist with in-home care, health services, and rehabilitation support.

Roles involve personal care, household support, and community access, with a pay rate of NZD 25.22–31.40 per hour. Employment is permanent, with both full-time and part-time options and rotating rosters.

Qualifications

  • Prior personal care experience preferred in rest home or community.
  • Familiarity with complex medical conditions such as spinal injuries or traumatic brain injury.
  • Must have access to a car and a valid NZ Full Driver's Licence.
  • Flexibility to travel anywhere in Northland.
  • Willingness to work rotating rosters and travel between people we support.
  • Legal right to work in New Zealand.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with personal cares (showering, bathing).
  • Assist with household management and meal preparation.
  • Support exercise programmes.
  • Assist with accessing the community.
  • Provide bowel, bladder, and catheter care.
  • Assist with moving and handling hoists and manual transfers.
  • Provide medication support.

About the Position | Te Mahi

Currently we are looking for dedicatedsupport workers to assist our service across Northland region.

Support work is fun, people-facing, challenging, and very rewarding, and it is also a deeply empathetic journey. It is more than a job; it is an opportunity to provide invaluable support, led by the people you will be supporting.

Responsibilities may Include:
  • Assisting with personal cares (showering, bathing)
  • Assisting with household management and meal preparation
  • Supporting exercise programmes
  • Assisting with accessing the community
  • Bowel, Bladder, and Catheter cares
  • Moving and handling hoists and manual transfers
  • Medication support

Job Location:
Kaikohe, Kerikeri, Okaihau, Paihia, Kawakawa and Russell

Pay rate:$25.22- $31.40 per hour (This is based on the Pay Equity Settlement 2017 – hourly pay rates based on equivalency of Healthcare Qualifications assessed under Pay Equity).

Employment Type: Permanent

We offer a range of employment opportunities including part-time, and full-time positions, which will be discussed further during the recruitment process.

Hours of work: Full-time (30+ Hours) or Part-time (Up to 29 Hours)

Days of Work:As this is community-based work, rotating rosters would be involved including am, pm and weekend work. Your preferred hours of work can be discussed during the recruitment process.

The duration of these hours may vary, ranging from shorter to longer periods, depending on the specific needs of the people we support.

You are a calm but confident-natured individual who can demonstrate resilience and understand the challenges of our service users. There are many responsibilities associated with being a support worker which can be challenging and fulfilling. It is rewarding when you are part of the support that enables a person to live their best lives in the community.

The candidate would have (Candidate Pre-Requisites):
  • Ideally, prior personal care experience is preferred in rest home and/or in the community
  • Familiarity with complex medical conditions, like spinal injuries, traumatic brain injury
  • Access to a car and ability to drive independently (a valid NZ Full Driver's License is a must)
  • Flexibility to travel anywhere in Northland
  • Flexibility to work on a rotating roster
  • Legal right to work in New Zealand is a must.
