Job summary

CCS Disability Action in Dunedin is seeking a Community Support Worker to help disabled people live in their own homes and engage with the local community.

You will support people to participate in activities such as visiting the library, going swimming, doing shopping, planning trips, and working toward personal goals. The role emphasises a person-centred, culturally respectful approach, Te Tiriti o Waitangi commitments, and empowering, competent support aligned with individual Personal Plans.

Qualifications

• Understanding of the disability sector and ability to relate to people with disabilities in a positive manner.
• Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the UN Convention on the Rights of Disabled People.
• Ability to think creatively and work with others to build independence and community connections.

Responsibilities

• Support people to live in their own homes and participate in their own community.
• Assist with planning and achieving personal goals and activities in line with Personal Plans.
• Provide empowering, respectful support aligned with cultural values and CCS Disability Actions.
