Job summary

CCS Disability Action – New Plymouth, North Island is seeking a part-time Community Support Worker to assist disabled people with daily living in a person-directed, community-based setting.

Qualifications

  • On the job learning and support to achieve certificates.
  • Valid full NZ driver's licence required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide person-centred support within the Taranaki community.

  • Engage with family/whānau and community supports.

This role offers you an exciting opportunity to use and develop your support skills within the Taranaki community. Our work is undertaken alongside disabled people, their family/whānau, and supports the individual’s needs in a person directed, creative way, making a difference in the community.

Our organisation takes a social, rather than medical approach, supporting disabled people to live their best lives. We are guided by the Enabling Good Lives principles, shifting power and authority back to disabled people and their families, to increase choice and control in their lives.

About you
  • Initiative, be reliable and flexible.

  • A positive attitude and a talent for developing supportive interactions.

  • The ability to relate well to a diverse arrange of people.

  • Experience supporting disabled people with high and complex needs would be a distinct advantage.

  • Strong connections to the community.

  • The ability to work independently, but also in a team environment.

  • A willingness to work with people we support to achieve their goals.

  • Skills with NZ Sign Language would be advantageous.

  • Available to work rostered hours including some weekend and overnight hours.

  • On the job learning, ongoing support to achieve L3 and L4 Health and Wellbeing Certificates.

  • A valid, Full New Zealand Driver’s Licence.
