Job summary

The Salvation Army New Zealand Auckland Family Stores is seeking a customer service all-rounder to provide an excellent experience for customers and donors. You will handle serving, greeting, sorting, pricing and merchandising donated goods, and assist with sales and cash handling in a fast-paced, high stock environment.

This permanent role is 40 hours per week, with some public holiday work. Starting hourly rate is $29.90.

Qualifications

• Excellent customer service skills with ability to de-escalate situations.
• Resilient, positive and people-oriented team player.
• Physically fit and capable of regular lifting.
• Capable of using retail technology such as point of sale software and tablets.
• Self-managing and able to keep to task and re-prioritise under pressure.
• Clear communicator, both verbally and written.
• Ethical approach to working in line with Salvation Army values.
• Right to work in New Zealand and able to pass police check.

Responsibilities

• Providing excellent customer service to customers and donors.
• Receiving, sorting, pricing and merchandising donated goods.
• Processing sales and general money handling, including end of day cash up with accuracy and efficiency.
• Ensuring the store is well presented, well stocked and tidy.
• Ensuring compliance with policies and standard operating procedures, including health and safety and audit controls.
• Contribute to a positive team culture and general duties of the Family Stores as required.
