Job summary

The Salvation Army’s Kapiti Family Store in New Zealand is seeking a proactive customer service all-rounder. You will greet customers and donors on the shop floor and assist in processing donations and sales with accurate cash handling.

A team-based, fast-paced environment awaits, with emphasis on presentation, compliance, and community impact. Ideal candidates are customer-focused, physically capable of lifting, and proficient with POS systems and tablets.

Qualifications

• Excellent customer service skills with ability to de-escalate situations.
• Physically fit and capable of regular lifting; daily part of the role.
• Experience using retail technology such as POS software and tablets.
• Able to work in a fast-paced, high stock volume environment.
• Strong communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Providing excellent customer service to customers and donors.
• Receiving, sorting, pricing and merchandising donated goods.
• Processing sales and cash handling with end-of-day cash up.
• Maintain store presentation and stock levels; tidy store.
• Ensure policies including health and safety and audit controls.
• Contribute to a positive team culture and duties of the Family Stores.
