Job summary

The Salvation Army operates numerous Family Stores in New Zealand, offering donated goods across clothing, furniture, linen and homeware. The role focuses on delivering a superior customer and donor experience in a busy retail setting, with tasks ranging from greeting customers to stock processing.

The successful candidate will be a team player with attention to detail, capable of multitasking in a fast-paced environment. Hours are 40 per week; a positive, community-minded attitude is essential.

Qualifications

• Excellent customer service and de-escalation skills.
• Resilient, positive team player with people skills.
• Physically capable of daily lifting in a fast-paced retail environment.
• Able to use POS systems and tablets for transactions and inventory.

Responsibilities

• Provide excellent customer and donor service on the shop floor.
• Receive, sort, price and merchandise donated goods.
• Process sales and handle cash with end-of-day reconciliation.
• Keep the store well presented, stocked and tidy.
• Ensure compliance with policies, SOPs, and health and safety procedures.
• Contribute to a positive team culture and assist with general duties.
