About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Community Liaison Officer to serve as the primary point of contact between their mining operations in Queenstown and the surrounding communities. This role is essential for fostering positive relationships, addressing community concerns, and ensuring that social and economic development initiatives are effectively implemented. You will play a critical role in maintaining the company's social license to operate and building trust within the Eastern Cape region. This position requires strong interpersonal skills and a deep understanding of community dynamics.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain strong, positive relationships with community leaders, local stakeholders, and residents.
• Communicate project updates, plans, and impacts effectively to community members.
• Facilitate community meetings, consultations, and engagement forums.
• Address community grievances and concerns promptly and professionally, coordinating resolution efforts.
• Support the implementation of the mine's social and labour plan commitments (e.g., local procurement, job creation, skills development).
• Monitor community sentiment and report feedback to project management to inform decision-making.

Requirements

• Degree or Diploma in Social Sciences, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in community engagement, stakeholder relations, or social development, preferably in the mining sector.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
• Proven ability to build rapport and trust with diverse community groups.
• Strong understanding of local socio-economic issues and cultural contexts in the Eastern Cape .
• Proficiency in local languages and English is a significant advantage.
