Job summary

First Security is part of the Wilson Group and Rotorua hosts a Communications Centre Operator role. This office-based, control room position centers on monitoring CCTV and security systems, coordinating responses, and supporting field teams in real time.

The role is fast-paced and requires strong communication, quick thinking, and calm decision-making, with a 24/7 rotating roster and full training provided in a specialized operations environment.

Qualifications

• Strong written and verbal communication skills (including incident reporting).
• High level of computer literacy and attention to detail.
• Ability to multitask and stay calm under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Monitoring live CCTV feeds and security systems across multiple sites.
• Receiving and triaging system alerts and taking appropriate action.
• Responding to calls from site users and verifying access requests.
• Remotely managing gate and access systems where appropriate.
• Dispatching security patrols and emergency services when required.
• Maintaining accurate incident logs and shift reporting.
• Managing user access credentials across multiple platforms.
• Working with NX Witness, Gallagher Command Centre, and Milestone.

Job Description: Communications Centre Operator in Rotorua

About the Role
We're looking for a Communications Centre Operator to join our Rotorua team! This is an office-based, control room environment where you'll be at the centre of operations - monitoring systems, coordinating responses, and supporting field teams in real time.

This role is fast-paced and detail-focused, where strong communication, quick thinking, and calm decision-making are key.

Duties:

• Monitoring live CCTV feeds and security systems across multiple sites
• Receiving and triaging system alerts and taking appropriate action
• Responding to calls from site users and verifying access requests
• Remotely managing gate and access systems where appropriate
• Dispatching security patrols and emergency services when required
• Maintaining accurate incident logs and shift reporting
• Managing user access credentials across multiple platforms
• Working with systems such as NX Witness, Gallagher Command Centre, and Milestone

What you'll need:

• Strong written and verbal communication skills (including incident reporting)
• High level of computer literacy and attention to detail
• Ability to multitask and stay calm under pressure
• A people-focused, solution-driven mindset
• Ability to work in a 24/7 rotating roster environment
• Previous experience in a control room or call centre (desirable but not essential)
• Familiarity with CCTV or access control systems is an advantage
• Ability to obtain a COA (we can assist you with this)
• NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa
