Job summary

Trimble is hiring a Software Engineer to bridge embedded C++ control systems with cloud connectivity and modern web applications in Christchurch, NZ. You will contribute to the Earthworks system and collaborate with global teams to deliver value to heavy equipment users.

You'll work on cross-platform features, modern web interfaces, and robust documentation while following CI/CD practices to ensure high quality and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Mechatronics, or equivalent practical experience.
• Solid professional experience developing embedded software in C++.
• Hands-on experience building web applications using TypeScript and Angular (or other modern JavaScript frameworks).

Responsibilities

• Drive Earthworks Evolution: Develop dynamic, cross-platform system features with a strong focus on enabling customers to commission and operate heavy machinery productively using a wide array of sensing devices.
• Build Embedded & Web Solutions: Write robust embedded Linux software using C++ while crafting modern web applications with Angular, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
• Architect Distributed Systems: Contribute to distributed system architecture by identifying subdomains and establishing bounded contexts.
• Collaborate Globally: Work alongside domain experts and software engineers across international sites to deliver customer value.
• Champion Engineering Excellence: Apply fundamental engineering practices to ensure predictability, high quality, and continuous improvement in the delivery lifecycle.
