Job summary

TDCM Limited in Auckland is seeking a Civil Team Leader to guide a small site crew, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard across civil works, drainage, earthworks, and sports field construction in the Auckland region.

This hands-on leadership role requires you to read plans, plan daily activities, and maintain productive, well-organised operations, with support from project and operations managers.

Qualifications

  • Experience in civil construction, drainage, earthworks or similar.
  • Experience leading or supervising a small team.
  • Ability to read plans and understand levels.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to health and safety.
  • Current NZ drivers license.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise site crews daily.
  • Plan and coordinate daily site activities.
  • Civil drainage and pipe installation.
  • Excavation, trenching, backfilling and compaction.
  • Operate excavators, loaders and other civil machinery.
  • Set levels, falls and basic site set-out.
  • Read plans and follow project specifications.
  • Organise labour, machinery and materials.
  • Monitor productivity and keep projects on programme.
  • Complete daily site and health & safety documentation.

Job description

As Civil Team Leader, you will be responsible for leading a small site crew and ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard. You will work closely with project managers and supervisors while taking day-to-day responsibility for your team and site activities. This is a hands‑on leadership role for someone who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in delivering quality work, and knows how to keep a crew organised, productive and safe. Projects include civil works, drainage, earthworks, sports field construction, turf and landscaping projects throughout the Auckland region.

  • Leading and supervising site crews
  • Planning and coordinating daily site activities
  • Civil drainage and pipe installation
  • Excavation, trenching, backfilling and compaction
  • Operating excavators, loaders and other civil machinery
  • Setting levels, falls and basic site set-out
  • Reading plans and following project specifications
  • Organising labour, machinery and materials
  • Monitoring productivity and keeping projects on programme

About you
  • Previous experience in civil construction, drainage, earthworks or a similar industry
  • Experience leading or supervising a small team
  • Good knowledge of civil construction practices
  • Excavator and machinery operating experience
  • Ability to read plans and understand levels
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
  • A positive attitude and good communication skills
  • A strong commitment to health and safety
  • A current NZ driver's licence
  • The ability to work independently and make good decisions on site
