Job summary

Civil Construction Ltd in Queenstown is seeking an experienced Grader Operator/Team Leader to join our roading division. You will lead a crew, operate graders and related earthworks equipment, and ensure on-time, within-budget delivery on subdivisions and public sector roading projects.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years in civil works, a Class 2 licence, WTR endorsement, and a safety-first mindset. Relocation to Queenstown may be required; benefits include above-average hourly rates and career

Qualifications

• 3+ years experience in Civil Works or similar.
• Experience leading a team, hitting targets and timeframes.
• Ability to cut to design, spread and level aggregates to design grades.
• Able to final trim pavement layers to design tolerances.
• Able to read and interpret construction plans.
• Knowledge of pavement construction methods and best practice.
• Familiar with NZ road construction standards.
• WTR endorsement.
• Full Class 2 or higher licence.
• Compaction knowledge and experience.
• Safety-first mindset and strong work ethic.
• NZ Citizen, Resident, or Open NZ Work Visa.

Your Day-to-Day: Connecting the community.

As a Grader Operator/Team Leader in our Roading team, you'll be hands-on, preparing and constructing pavement on a range of projects from subdivisions to public sector roading construction and rehabilitation projects. The ability to operate multiple machines is advantageous and not being afraid to labour will go a long way.

What You'll Need

To hit the ground running, you'll generally need:

• 3+ years experience in the Civil Works Industry or similar
• Experience leading a team and working to targets and timeframes
• Ability to cut to design, spread and level aggregates to correct grades and cross falls
• Able to final trim pavement layers to within design tolerances
• Able to read and interpret construction plans
• Advanced knowledge of pavement construction methods and best practice
• Knowledge of Road Maintenance and pavement aftercare
• Familiar with New Zealand road construction standards and specifications
• A WTR endorsement
• A Full Class 2 or higher licence
• Compaction knowledge & experience
• A flexible attitude and a strong work ethic
• A safety-first mindset
• To be a NZ Citizen, Resident, or hold a current Open NZ Work Visa

Nice-to-haves (but not essential):

• Experience driving trucks or other machinery
• Subdivision Work Experience
• GPS Experience
• NDM (Nuclear Density Meter) Testing Certification
