Job summary

SouthRoads in Dunedin is seeking a Contract Manager to lead major civil infrastructure projects across Otago. You will manage multiple contracts, coordinate labour, plant and subcontractors, and drive tendering, pricing and commercial performance.

Based in Dunedin, reporting to the Branch Manager, you will build client relationships, maintain budgets and safety standards, and mentor teams to deliver high-quality outcomes for the HW Richardson Group's portfolio.

Qualifications

• Proven civil construction leader with strong operational and commercial capability.
• Strong leadership and people management skills.
• Experience tendering, estimating and securing new work opportunities.
• Solid understanding of NZS 3910 and civil construction contract management.
• Strong client relationship and stakeholder management.

Responsibilities

• Leading contract delivery across multiple projects.
• Resource planning and coordination of labour, plant and subcontractors.
• Tendering, estimating and pricing opportunities.
• Contract administration and commercial management.
• Managing budgets, forecasting and project profitability.
• Building strong relationships with clients, consultants, suppliers and subcontractors.
• Driving safety, quality and environmental performance.

About the Role

Based in Dunedin and reporting to the Branch Manager, you'll lead experienced construction teams delivering a broad range of civil infrastructure projects, including:

• Road rehabilitation and pavement construction
• Earthworks and site development
• Subdivision and land development projects
• Drainage and underground services
• Transport infrastructure and corridor improvements
• Flood protection and environmental works
• Traffic management operations
• Civil and infrastructure maintenance contracts

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading contract delivery across multiple projects
• Resource planning and coordination of labour, plant and subcontractors
• Tendering, estimating and pricing opportunities
• Contract administration and commercial management
• Managing budgets, forecasting and project profitability
• Building strong relationships with clients, consultants, suppliers and subcontractors
• Driving safety, quality and environmental performance
• Developing and coaching team members to achieve their full potential

What You'll Bring:

You will be a proven civil construction leader with strong operational and commercial capability, backed by a track record of delivering successful project outcomes.

You’ll have

• Strong leadership skills and people management skills
• Excellent commercial acumen and contract management experience
• Experience tendering, estimating and securing new work opportunities
• A sound understanding of NZS 3910 and civil construction contract management
• Strong client relationship and stakeholder management skills
• A commitment to health, safety, quality and continuous improvement
• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related disciple will be advantageous.
