Job summary

McConnell Dowell – Creative Construction in Dunedin, Otago, is seeking a Supervisor to coordinate and supervise site activities. You’ll work closely with the Project Manager, Superintendents, Engineers and Foremen to manage people, resources and daily construction tasks.

The role requires a trades qualification relevant to construction, civil infrastructure experience, and a minimum of five years in a similar supervisory civil engineering position, with strong HS&E knowledge.

Qualifications

• Trades qualification relevant to construction or manufacturing.
• Civil infrastructure experience.
• Minimum 5 years in a similar supervisory role in Civil engineering.
• Strong HS&E knowledge.
• Proven ability to lead and motivate diverse site teams.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• A proactive, hands-on leadership style.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate site crews and subcontractors.
• Plan and manage daily works in line with the construction programme.
• Ensure compliance with all HS&E policies, procedures, and project CEPs.
• Conduct toolbox talks, pre-starts, and site inductions.
• Identify hazards, assess risks, and implement control measures.
• Ensure JSEAs are in place before works commence.
• Monitor quality and ensure works meet specifications and standards.
• Complete daily diaries and site performance reporting.
• Support training and development of team members.
• Report incidents, NCRs, plant damage, and potential variations.
