Job summary

Whiria Te Tangata WellStop is a NZ-based agency focused on eliminating harmful sexual behaviour by providing assessment and treatment services to clients across ages. The Child and Youth Consultant will guide clinical practice, supervision, and strategic input to ensure evidence-based care and culturally responsive services.

The role requires a registered Clinical Psychologist with a current Practising Certificate, plus 5+ years in a multi-disciplinary setting.

Qualifications

• Ideally recognised Psychologist with Clinical Psychologist qualification.
• Must be registered with a professional body and hold a current Practising Certificate (or be in the process).
• At least 5 years post-qualification experience in a multi-disciplinary team.
• Training in delivering clinical and evidence-based treatment; experience with complex needs and family systems.
• Experience with psychometrics, assessment, and formulation of client issues.
• Experience creating safety plans.
• Experience in working with issues of sexual abuse, trauma, and mental health is advantageous.
• Comfortable working with clients living with Intellectual Disability or Neurodevelopmental Disorders.
• Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Kaupapa Māori models of practice; culturally responsive.
• Connections with local community and ability to work with whānau, hapū and iwi.
• Full NZ driver’s license is required.
• Must already be located in NZ with citizenship/residency or valid NZ work visa.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical guidance and supervision to WellStop kaimahi on practice, assessment, and treatment.
• Contribute to agency decisions and clinical direction in area of expertise; collaborate with Adult and Disability Support Consultants.

The role

The Child and Youth Consultant provides clinical guidance and supervision to all WellStop kaimahi in regard to clinical practice, assessment, and treatment. They will provide critical input into decision making around the agency, and clinical direction in their area of expertise. This role works closely with both the Adult Consultant and the Disability Support Consultant.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Ideally recognised Psychologist, Clinical Psychologist qualification.
• Be registered with a professional body and have a current Practicing Certificate (or be in the process of obtaining).
• At least 5 years’ post qualification experience working in a multi-disciplinary team.
• Training and experience in delivering clinical and evidence-based treatment, and experience working with complex needs and family systems.
• Experience in the use of psychometrics, assessment, and formulation of client issues.
• Experience creating safety plans.
• Experience in working with issues of sexual abuse, trauma, and mental health would be advantageous.
• Comfortable working with clients living with an Intellectual Disability or Neurodevelopmental Disorders.
• The ability to work in a culturally responsive manner that demonstrates a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi including experience with Kaupapa Māori models of practice.
• Connections with the local community and an ability to work effectively and collaboratively with whānau, hapu and Iwi.
• You will be required to drive so a FULL NZ driver’s licence is required.
• To be considered for this position you must already be located and resident in NZ have either NZ citizenship/residency or a valid NZ work visa.
