Job summary

Whakarongorau Aotearoa is seeking a Family & Sexual Harm Advisor to provide high-quality, person-centered support for tāngata whai ora and whānau within a dynamic 24/7 service. The role involves risk assessments, safety planning, and connecting people with needed services, with flexibility for overnight and weekend shifts in a hybrid work model.

• Use advanced communication and counselling skills to respond effectively to a range of complex situations.
• Provide guidance, coaching, and support to other advisors to strengthen capability and service delivery.
• Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders and support services.
• Recognise and address barriers that may impact access to support, wellbeing, and outcomes.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and promote best practice across the service.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure service delivery meets organisational, contractual, and professional standards.

Job Description

As a Family & Sexual Harm (F&SH) Advisor, you will provide support to tāngata whai ora and their whānau affected by family and sexual harm. Working within a dynamic 24/7 service, you will use your expertise to deliver safe, person-centred support, undertake risk assessments, and help connect people with the services and resources they need.

As a 24/7 service, flexibility to work a range of shifts is essential. We are seeking kaimahi available to work 0.6, 0.8, or 1 FTE. Availability to work overnight and weekend shifts will be highly regarded.

You are an experienced practitioner with a strong understanding of family and sexual harm dynamics and a genuine passion for supporting people through some of life's most challenging circumstances. Ōuwheakoōumātaurangahoki| Qualifications and Experience

• A relevant tertiary qualification (or working towards) in counselling, psychology, social work, psychotherapy, or a related discipline, or 2+ years’ experience supporting individuals impacted by family violence or sexual harm.
• Working towards registration with a relevant body within the Mental Health and Addictions field
• Experience of supervision or coaching
• Ideally, 6+ months experience working in Telehealth or similar role, e.g. Helplines/eTherapy/F2F counselling or Therapy
• An in-depth understanding of family and sexual harm dynamics.
• Strong communication, active listening, and counselling skills.
• The ability to exercise sound judgement and make informed decisions in complex situations.
