Job summary

Stop is seeking a Specialist Clinician to provide evidence-based assessment and tailored therapy for adults with harmful sexual behaviour within the Adult Service. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to design and implement individualized treatment plans and maintain thorough clinical records.

We value strong clinical reasoning, cultural responsiveness, and a commitment to learning within a specialist practice area.

Qualifications

• Recognised qualification in psychology, counselling, social work, or related mental health discipline; current registration or ability to work toward (NZ Psychologists Board, NZAC, SWRB).
• Demonstrated experience working with adults in a clinical setting.
• Expertise in evidence-based approaches (CBT, ACT) and trauma-informed care.

Job description

As a Specialist Clinician in the Adult Service at Stop, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality, evidence-based assessment and tailored therapeutic intervention services to adults who have engaged in harmful sexual behaviour (HSB).

We recognise that not every candidate will bring direct experience working with harmful sexual behaviours. If you have strong clinical fundamentals, experience working with complex presentations, and the motivation to develop specialist skills, we'd love to hear from you.

What you'll be doing

• Delivering therapeutic assessment and intervention for adults who have been referred for harmful sexual behaviour.
• Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement tailored treatment plans.
• Maintaining detailed clinical records and ensuring compliance with organisational policies and procedures.
• Contributing to the development and continuous improvement of the Adult Service.

What we're looking for

• A recognised qualification in psychology, counselling, social work, or a related mental health discipline, with current professional registration or ability to work towards (e.g. NZ Psychologists Board, NZAC, SWRB)
• Demonstrated experience working with adults in a clinical setting.
• Demonstrated expertise in evidence-based therapeutic approaches, such as CBT, ACT, and trauma-informed care.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and collaborate effectively with clients and colleagues.
• Strong clinical reasoning and problem-solving skills, with a commitment to delivering high-quality, person-centered care.
• An interest in developing expertise in the assessment and treatment of harmful sexual behaviours, with the capacity and willingness to learn within a specialist area of practice.
• Cultural competence, including the ability to engage effectively with diverse communities and work in culturally responsive ways
