Job summary

Nelson PARAKALA FOODS LIMITED in Nelson, New Zealand, is looking for two experienced cooks to join our busy restaurant. The cooks will work 30-35 hours per week on a weekly payroll, preparing and presenting chicken dishes, sauces and sides to a consistently high standard.

Applicants should have at least two years in a similar position or NZQF Certificate Level 4 in a relevant major, plus strong communication, time management and personal hygiene.

Qualifications

• Requires at least two years experience in a similar cook role or NZQF Level 4 in a relevant major.
• Strong communication, time management and personal hygiene skills.
• Willingness to work weekends, public holidays and peak periods.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and present chicken dishes, sides and sauces to high standard.
• Follow restaurant recipes, steps and techniques for each menu item.
• Cook meals in quantities based on daily sales forecasts and customer numbers.
• Set up workstation with ingredients, utensils and equipment before service.
• Prepare ingredients such as cleaning, portioning, marinating and brining.
• Assist with catering orders, group bookings and special functions as required.
