Nelson PARAKALA FOODS LIMITED is seeking two experienced cooks to join our busy restaurant in Nelson. You will work 30–35 hours per week on a weekly payroll, preparing and cooking chicken dishes to a high standard.

Responsibilities include following standard recipes, preparing ingredients and sauces, and handling catering orders. You must maintain food safety, manage time efficiently, and be available on weekends and holidays.

Qualificações

• Two years experience in a similar role or NZQF Level 4 in relevant field.
• Good communication, time management, and high standard personal hygiene.
• Available to work on weekends, public holidays and peak periods.

Responsabilidades

• Prepare and present chicken dishes, sides, and sauces to a high standard.
• Cook according to standard recipes and techniques (frying, grilling, roasting).
• Cook meals in quantities based on the menu, daily forecasts, and customer numbers.
• Set up workstation with ingredients and equipment before service.
• Prepare ingredients including cleaning, portioning, marinating, brining, and batter prep.
• Prepare signature sauces, seasonings and dips as specified.
• Handle catering orders, group bookings and function catering as required.
• Monitor oil temperature and cooking times; manage oil filtering.
• Record routine checks and ensure temperature control during production, service and storage.
• Control waste and ensure stock rotation.

Job Description

We are looking for two experienced cook to join our busy restaurant.

The cook is required to work between 30-35 hours per week on a weekly payroll.

Key Responsibilities:

• Take responsibility for the preparation, cooking, presentation and serving of all chicken dishes, side dishes and sauces to a consistently high standard
• Cook according to the restaurant's standard recipes, steps and techniques for each menu item, including frying, grilling and roasting chicken
• Cook meals in quantities appropriate to the menu, daily sales forecasts and number of customers to be served
• Set up the workstation with the required ingredients, utensils and equipment, including deep fryers, before each service
• Prepare ingredients before cooking, such as cleaning and portioning chicken, marinating and brining, preparing batter and coating mixes, and preparing vegetables and side dishes
• Prepare signature sauces, seasonings and dips according to recipe specifications
• Prepare, cook and present food for catering orders, group bookings and special functions as required
• Monitor and maintain correct oil temperature and cooking times to ensure chicken is cooked safely and consistently, and manage regular oil filtering and replacement
• Ensure routine data is collected as required and that all daily checks, including temperature control during production, preparation, service and storage, are carried out properly
• Ensure waste is controlled during preparation and cooking, including correct stock rotation

Job requirement: applicant must meet following requirement to apply for this job

• At least two years experience in relevant position OR NZQF certificate Level 4 in relevant major or Above
• Good communication skill, time management, and high standard personal hygiene
• Available to work on weekends, public holidays and peak periods of the business.
