Job summary

Nelson PARAKALA FOODS LIMITED is seeking two experienced cooks to join our busy restaurant. The role covers preparation, cooking and presenting chicken dishes to a high standard, with 30-35 hours per week on weekly payroll.

You will work with standard recipes and techniques, prepare ingredients, monitor oil temperatures, and assist with catering orders and events. Weekend, public holiday and peak period availability is required.

Qualifications

• At least two years experience in relevant position or NZQF certificate Level 4 in relevant major or Above.
• Good communication, time management and high standard personal hygiene.
• Available to work on weekends, public holidays and peak periods of the business.

Responsibilities

• Take responsibility for preparation, cooking, presentation and serving of all chicken dishes to high standard.
• Cook according to standard recipes, steps and techniques for each menu item.
• Cook meals in quantities appropriate to the menu, daily sales forecasts and number of customers.
• Set up workstation with required ingredients, utensils and equipment before each service.
• Prepare ingredients: cleaning, portioning, marinating, brining and coating mixes.
• Prepare signature sauces, seasonings and dips per recipe specs.
• Prepare and present food for catering orders and events as required.
• Monitor oil temperature and cooking times to ensure safety and consistency.
• Carry out daily checks including temperature control during production, service and storage.
• Ensure waste is controlled during preparation and cooking, including stock rotation.
