Job summary

Cater Plus is seeking a Chef Manager for Ashbury Heights Resthome in Whangārei. This is a hands-on leadership role overseeing the kitchen operation, developing the team, and delivering fresh, nutritious meals to residents daily.

You will manage rostering, stock, and food costs while ensuring compliance with NZ food safety and health and safety standards. A collaborative, proactive approach is essential for excellent resident satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Previous leadership or supervisory experience as a chef.
• Knowledge of New Zealand food safety and health and safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day operation of the kitchen, ensuring smooth and efficient service.
• Prepare and oversee the production of high-quality, nutritious meals that residents enjoy.
• Train, coach, and support kitchen staff, fostering a positive and productive team culture.
• Manage kitchen rostering, stock control, ordering, and food cost management.
• Monitor and maintain compliance with food safety, health and safety, and quality standards.
• Ensure the kitchen is clean, organised, and operating efficiently at all times.
