Job summary

New World Stratford is seeking a motivated Checkout Manager to lead a customer-focused checkout team and uphold high standards of service and efficiency. This hands-on leadership role involves rostering, wage-cost control, cash handling, and Duty Manager responsibilities, including the sale and supply of alcohol.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership experience in retail or customer service.
• Experience supervising a checkout/front-end team is desirable.
• Strong people leadership, communication and problem-solving.
• Ability to manage rosters and labour costs.
• Current Duty Manager's Certificate or willingness to obtain one.
• Solid health and safety knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a customer-focused checkout team providing exceptional service.
• Oversee checkout operations, self-checkouts, Lotto and customer service areas.
• Recruit, train, coach and performance-manage team members.
• Create and maintain department rosters ensuring appropriate staffing levels.
• Monitor wage costs in line with store targets.
• Ensure cash handling procedures are followed.
• Manage customer enquiries, complaints and feedback professionally.
• Maintain presentation, housekeeping and health and safety standards.
• Lead by example during busy trading periods and on the checkout floor.
• Undertake Duty Manager responsibilities including alcohol sale responsibilities.
• Collaborate with leadership to achieve store goals.
