Job summary

The Red Boats in Auckland is seeking a Catering & Provisioning Assistant for the busy summer season. You will prepare and coordinate catering for harbour cruises, private charters, functions and events, from cheese boxes to grazing platters, ensuring everything is ready on time.

This casual role requires strong organisation, attention to detail, cleanliness, reliability and initiative. Availability through Christmas/New Year is essential, with weekends and public holidays expected during peak

Qualifications

• Experience in catering, hospitality or food preparation is preferred.
• Strong organisation and attention to detail required.
• Ability to prepare boxes, grazing tables and platters to a high standard.

Responsibilities

• Prepare individual cheese boxes and grazing platters.
• Assemble grazing tables and other catering items.
• Prepare catering according to confirmed passenger numbers.
• Purchase and collect food, ingredients and supplies.
• Monitor and rotate catering stock and check use-by dates.
• Pack and prepare catering for vessels.
• Prepare dietary requirements as approved.
• Maintain clean and organised preparation/storage areas.
• Keep purchase records and receipts.
• Help control food costs and minimise waste.
• Set up catering onboard vessels when required.
• Support catering for private charters, functions and events.

The Red Boats is looking for an organised, reliable and hands-on Catering & Provisioning Assistant to join our team for the busy summer season.

This is a varied role preparing and coordinating catering for our Auckland Harbour cruises, private charters, functions and special events. You’ll help make sure everything from individual cheese boxes to grazing tables and platters is beautifully prepared and ready at the right time.

Applicants must be available throughout the busy Christmas and New Year holiday period, including public holidays as required.

About the role

• Preparing individual cheese and grazing boxes
• Preparing grazing tables, platters and other catering
• Preparing catering according to confirmed passenger numbers
• Purchasing and collecting food, ingredients and supplies
• Monitoring and maintaining catering stock
• Checking use-by dates and rotating stock
• Packing and preparing catering for our vessels
• Preparing approved dietary requirements
• Maintaining clean and organised preparation and storage areas
• Keeping purchase records and receipts
• Helping control food costs and minimise waste
• Setting up catering onboard vessels when required
• Supporting catering for private charters, functions and special events

Previous catering, hospitality, food preparation or similar experience would be an advantage.

Availability

This is a casual position, with hours based around our charter and catering schedule.

You must be available throughout the Christmas and New Year holiday period. Availability across weekends and public holidays during our busy summer season is also important.

Hours will vary depending on passenger numbers, private charters, events and sailing schedules, so flexibility is essential.
