Job summary

Pathways Health Ltd in Palmerston North invites you to join our casual Support Worker team in the mental health respite service. You’ll cover leave, gain valuable experience, and support a permanent team with flexible shifts.

We welcome applicants with a current First Aid certificate or willingness to obtain one, and NZQA Level 4 NZCHW qualification (or studying toward it). Roles include medication assistance, activities, cooking and guest support.

Qualifications

• Must hold current First Aid certificate or be willing to obtain one.
• Currently studying towards NZCHW Level 4 or equivalent, or possess it.
• Flexible and available for varying shifts.

Responsibilities

• Support our permanent team by covering leave and gaining experience in the respite service.
• Assist with short-term respite for people experiencing mental distress.
• Administer medications as required and engage guests in on-site activities.
• Maintain a welcoming environment, help with cooking and cleaning, and host visiting clinical teams.

Step into a casual Support Worker role where you’ll support our permanent team by covering leave and gaining valuable experience in our respite service.

Ourrespiteservicecould see you collaborating with mental health services to provide short‑term respite for people experiencing mental distress. This includes administering medication, offering a compassionate listening ear, engaging guests in on‑site activities, maintaining a welcoming environment, cooking, cleaning, and hosting visiting clinical teams.

With 24/7 operations, hours of work vary based on availability with plenty of opportunities to pick up shifts.

We currently have a high need to fill the below shifts:

• Morning shift: 7:00am - 3:30pm
• Afternoon/ evening shift: 3:00pm - 11:30pm
• Awake night shifts: 11.00pm - 7.30am.
• Current first aid certificate or are you willing to obtain one
• For our respite services, applications must hold the Level 4 New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (NZCHW) or a recognised equivalent, or are currently studying towards this qualification or a recognised equivalent
• Able to be flexible and available for varying shifts
