Job summary

SGS Timaru is seeking reliable people to join our casual Plant and Terminal Operator team on a casual basis with no guaranteed hours. You will support bunker operations, discharge fuel into terminal tanks, and may take on additional duties as needed.

Flexibility is essential as vessels can arrive day or night, weekdays or weekends. You will handle up to 25 kg and work outdoors in all weather conditions, with safety training and progression opportunities.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to manage your time and work in a busy environment.
• Based locally for shift availability and short-notice needs.
• Able to work days, nights, weekends and public holidays in all weather conditions.
• Follow operating procedures including health and safety requirements.
• Knowledge of oil, gas and chemical industry beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with bunker operations for vessels at the port.
• Discharging fuel tankers into Oil Industry Terminal tanks.
• Other duties may be offered based on skills and positive attitude.
• Involves manual handling of up to 25 kgs and outside work in all weather.
• Vessels may arrive any time; flexibility is required.
