Job summary

SGS in Dunedin is seeking casual Plant and Terminal Operators to support bunker operations and fuel discharge at the Port. Roles require manual handling up to 25 kg, outdoor work in any weather, and a flexible schedule including days, nights, weekends and public holidays.

Applicants should have strong time-management, be locally based, and comply with health and safety procedures. NZ driver’s licence and eligibility to work in NZ are essential.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to manage time in a busy environment.
• Willingness to work days, nights, weekends and public holidays when required.
• Ability to follow health and safety procedures and operating procedures.
• Experience or knowledge of Oil, Gas or Chemical industries is advantageous.
• Must hold a current NZ driver's license and be local to Dunedin.

Responsibilities

• Assist with bunker operations for vessels at the Port.
• Discharge fuel from tankers into Oil Industry Terminal tanks.
• Perform additional duties as required with the right skills and attitude.
• Manual handling up to 25 kg and outdoor work in all weather.
• Maintain flexibility to accommodate vessels arriving any time, including nights and weekends.

Our Dunedin team are on the lookout for responsible and reliable people with a positive work ethic to join our friendly team on a casual basis.

What you will be doing:

• Assisting with bunker operations for vessels when they are at the Port
• Discharging of fuel tankers into Oil Industry Terminal tanks
• Other duties may be offered should you have the right skills and positive approach to work
• Involves manual handling of up to 25kgs and working outside in all weather conditions
• Vessels can arrive at any time of the day or night, weekdays or weekend, so flexibility is key for this role

Qualifications

What we are looking for:

Profile:

• Proven ability to manage your time and work in a busy environment
• Due to working hours and the need to be available on short notice, ideally you will be based locally
• Owing to the nature of the work and scheduling requirements, you will need to be able to work, days, nights, weekends and public holidays in all weather conditions when required
• Demonstrated skill in following operating procedures including strict health and safety requirements
• Knowledge of and previous experience working in the Oil, Gas and Chemical Industry highly advantageous

Qualifications:

• Good verbal communication and able to maintain accurate written records
• Must hold a current and unrestricted New Zealand Driver's License
• Pass a drug screening and MOJ process
• Must be a NZ Citizen/Resident or hold a valid work visa
