Job summary

Whangarei Golf Club in Whangarei is seeking a friendly, customer-focused casual Shop & Bar Assistant to welcome members and visitors, manage tee bookings, check-ins and provide great service.

You’ll use the club's POS system, assist with cart hires, golf simulator bookings, memberships and events, and work flexible hours including weekends as part of a welcoming team that keeps the shop and bar well-stocked and tidy.

Qualifications

• Friendly, approachable and confident dealing with a wide range of people.
• Organised and able to keep things moving in a busy environment.
• Reliable, responsible and proactive with a can-do attitude.
• Comfortable using computers and learning new software systems.
• Confident handling cash and POS transactions.

Responsibilities

• Welcome members, visitors and guests with a friendly smile and provide excellent customer service.
• Help manage the flow of golfers through the Club and onto the course, ensuring players are checked in, informed and ready to play.
• Manage tee bookings, player check-ins and scorecards using the Club’s golf management software.
• Assist with cart hires, indoor golf simulator bookings and other player services.
• Use the Club’s POS system to process retail, bar and other transactions accurately.
• Process memberships, subscriptions and other payments.
• Answer enquiries and provide information about the course, Club facilities, events and services.
• Assist golfers with anything they need before, during and after their round.
• Help coordinate the smooth running of Club events, competitions and promotions.
• Keep the Golf Shop and Bar tidy, organised, well-stocked and welcoming.
• Work closely with the wider Club team to ensure members and visitors have a positive experience from the moment they arrive.

This is a varied, people-focused role where you’ll be one of the friendly faces welcoming members, visitors and golfers to the Club. You’ll help keep the day-to-day operation running smoothly — from managing tee bookings and player check-ins to assisting in the shop and bar and helping create a great experience for everyone who comes through our doors.

• Casual Hours: Monday to Sunday
• Role: Shop & Bar support, member services, event assistance
• Location: Whangarei Golf Club; 10 Par Lane, Tikipunga
• Must be 18+ to apply

• Retail, hospitality, customer service or administration experience is a bonus
• Passion for golf is great, but not essential — we’ll train the right person!
