Job summary

Oranga Tamariki—Ministry for Children seeks a Caregiver Social Worker in Dunedin. You will recruit, assess and support caregivers to provide safe and nurturing homes for tamariki, collaborating with the child’s Social Worker for cohesive care.

The role covers Central Otago, Queenstown Lakes and North Otago, with a strong focus on caregiver wellbeing. Requires SWRB qualification and full registration with NZ SWRB plus annual practising certificate.

Qualifications

• Social Work qualification recognised by SWRB.
• Full registration with NZ SWRB and annual practising certificate.
• Demonstrated resilience, critical thinking and problem-solving.
• Upholding Treaty of Waitangi principles in practice.
• Understanding of Oranga Tamariki National Care Standards.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, assess and support caregivers to provide safe, nurturing care.
• Partner with caregivers and the child's Social Worker for coordinated care.
• Collaborate with agencies and communities to meet caregiver needs.
• Travel across Central Otago, Queenstown Lakes and North Otago as required.
