Job summary

Dusty's Depot in Auckland is seeking a cafe chef with an interest in baked goods. You will proof and cook pastries daily, assemble fresh sandwiches, and craft sausage rolls and desserts in-house within an open kitchen.

You'll interact with customers, help with product development with Chef Tony, manage orders, and uphold health and safety standards. Hours are roughly 4:30am–12pm, Wednesday to Sunday, totaling 38–40 hours per week; Christmas closure noted.

Qualifications

• Experience in pastry production and baking daily.
• Ability to interact with customers in a friendly manner.
• Strong organization and time management.

Dusty's Depot is a beloved café and bakery in the heart of Meadowbank/Glen Innes, Auckland. Since 2021, we've been serving up freshly baked goods and specialty coffee in a warm, welcoming atmosphere to our local community. Our mission is to provide our customers with an exceptional morning experience. We have now opened our second site in One tree hill, and we want to duplicate the success of our first outlet.

We are looking for a cafe chef with an interest in baked goods. You will be proofing and cooking fresh pastries daily, making awesome fresh sandwiches, delicious sausage rolls, desserts and working with choux pastry. We make everything inhouse. We also want a chef who is not scared to interact with the public as you will be working in an open kitchen and be in contact with some customers at times. Our customers are our best asset, not a bother so, you'll need to have a happy and friendly attitude.

You will be involved in product development and research with Chef Tony, place orders and be responsible for kitchen health and safety as well as implementing the cleaning roster. Good organization skills and time management are a must.

We are open Wednesday to Sunday, and your hours will be approximately 4.30am until 12pm which means we can guaranty 38 to 40 hours of work a week over five days. Week in, week out.

Remuneration above the living wage for the right applicant.

We will be closed for the Christmas period from 24th December until 15th January.
