Job summary

Jora New Zealand is seeking a Pastry Chef in Auckland for a full-time/permanent role with a 30-hour minimum per week on a rotating roster. The position offers a pay bracket of $25 to $35 per hour based on experience, with flexible scheduling including weekends and public holidays.

Responsibilities include dough preparation, baking oversight, pastry fillings, and maintaining hygiene and safety standards in a fast-paced bakery environment.

Qualifications

• Flexible schedule including weekends and public holidays.
• Candidates with 2 years pastry experience or relevant qualification.
• Bachelor's degree or higher in any field accepted.

Responsibilities

• Check equipment cleanliness and operation to ensure OH&S compliance.
• Check quality of raw materials and weigh ingredients.
• Knead, mature, cut, mould, mix and shape dough and pastry goods.
• Prepare pastry fillings.
• Monitor oven temperatures and baking times.
• Coordinate loading, baking, unloading, de-panning and cooling of batches.
• Glaze buns and pastries, decorate cakes with cream and icing.
• Operate machines that roll, mould dough and cut biscuits.
• Clean and grease baking trays, tins and other equipment.

About the role:

Trade Food Assistants responsibilities and duties:

• checking the cleanliness of equipment and operation of premises before production runs to ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations
• checking the quality of raw materials and weighing ingredients
• kneading, maturing, cutting, moulding, mixing and shaping dough and pastry goods
• preparing pastry fillings
• monitoring oven temperatures and product appearance to determine baking times
• coordinating the forming, loading, baking, unloading, de-panning and cooling of batches of bread, rolls and pastry products
• glazing buns and pastries, and decorating cakes with cream and icing
• operating machines which roll and mould dough and cut biscuits
• emptying, cleaning and greasing baking trays, tins and other cooking equipment

• Relevant qualification OR Relevant experience of 2 years OR A bachelor's degree or Higher qualification in any field will be accepted for this role
