Job summary

Summerset Retirement Villages is seeking a friendly Café Assistant for our Rototuna village in Hamilton. You’ll help deliver a welcoming café experience for residents, families and visitors by making great coffee, serving cabinet food and light meals.

In this casual, as-and-when-needed role you’ll work with the Chef Manager, Café Supervisor and village team to maintain high standards, support village events and handle cash with care.

Qualifications

• Warm, friendly personality with strong customer service skills.
• Proven ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, present, and serve food and drinks to a high standard in the café.

Job Description

We’re now looking for a Café Assistant for our Rototuna village who shares our love for people and hospitality.

You’ll play a key role in delivering exceptional customer service and ensuring the smooth running of our café. From making great coffee to creating tasty cabinet food and light meals, you’ll help make our café a warm and welcoming place for residents, their families, and visitors. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Preparing, presenting, and serving food and drinks to a high standard
• Assisting with catering for village events and resident functions
• Handling cash and reconciling daily takings

You’ll work closely with the Chef Manager, Café Supervisor, and wider village team to deliver a café experience that’s welcoming, consistent, and genuinely enjoyable.

This is a casual role working on as and when needed basis.

You will bring a warm and positive approach to everything you do, along with:

• A warm, friendly personality with great customer service skills
• Excellent communication and the ability to multitask
• The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
