Job summary

Cook Brothers Construction seeks an experienced Business Development Consultant to drive growth across New Zealand. You will identify new opportunities, build relationships with clients, consultants and developers, and support tender activities to position CBC early in procurement processes.

In collaboration with regional teams and leadership, you will help build a strong project pipeline and promote CBC across commercial construction and property sectors nationwide.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in business development, construction, property or related industries.
• Strong knowledge of NZ commercial construction and property sectors.
• Established industry networks and relationships are valued.
• Knowledge of procurement methods, project delivery and commercial drivers.

About the Role: Business Development Consultant, Auckland

We are seeking an experienced Business Development Consultant to drive growth opportunities and strengthen Cook Brothers Construction's market presence across New Zealand. This role is responsible for identifying and securing new business opportunities, developing and maintaining key client relationships, supporting tender and bid activities, and ensuring CBC is positioned early in project procurement processes.

Working closely with regional teams, marketing, and senior leadership, you will help build a strong pipeline of future work while representing the Cook Brothers Construction brand across the commercial construction and property sectors.

Duties:

• Identify, develop, and convert new business opportunities to support sustainable growth.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, property developers, and industry stakeholders.
• Research markets, map client opportunities, and proactively identify upcoming procurement and construction projects.
• Arrange and attend meetings with key decision makers, positioning Cook Brothers Construction as a preferred delivery partner.
• Collaborate with operational teams to develop compelling proposals, presentations, and bid strategies.
• Support tendering activities through client insights, relationship mapping, and market intelligence.
• Attend networking events, industry functions, conferences, and association meetings to promote the business.
• Provide market, competitor, and client insights to support strategic business development planning.
• Work collaboratively with regional leadership teams to ensure a coordinated and client-focused approach.

Skills and Experience:

• 5+ years' experience in business development, construction, property, professional services, or a related industry.
• Demonstrated success in identifying, developing, and converting commercial opportunities.
• Strong understanding of the New Zealand commercial construction and property development sectors.
• Established industry networks and relationships are highly regarded.
• Knowledge of construction procurement methods, project delivery models, and commercial drivers.
• Experience supporting proposals, tenders, and bid submissions.
• Excellent relationship management, negotiation, presentation, and communication skills.
• Strong research and analytical abilities with the capability to identify emerging market trends.
• Understanding of contract law fundamentals and commercial risk considerations.
• Tertiary qualification in Business, Marketing, Construction Management, or a related discipline preferred.
