Job summary

New Zealand Police is seeking an experienced Business Case Lead to deliver BBC-compliant business cases across New Zealand Police. The role is based in Wellington or Auckland and involves leading senior project management activities to improve frontline and community outcomes.

The successful candidate will manage multi-priority delivery, influence stakeholders, and apply governance and BBC methodologies. Fixed-term until 30 June 2027 with full-time hours.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated delivery of business cases and projects.
• Prince2 or PMP certification or equivalent experience.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Ability to juggle multiple priorities and work independently or with teams.
• Knowledge of Treasury BBC methodology and BBC-compliant business cases.
• Willingness to enrol in a leadership programme when advertised.

The business case lead plays a key role in delivering high quality, successful better business cases for Police . We are looking for a Senior Project Manager level business case professional to lead and manage the successful delivery of better business cases across New Zealand Police. This is an excellent opportunity to be an integral part of establishing key strategic initiatives designed to deliver improved service to our frontline officers and the community.

Key Accountabilities

• Plan and deliver BBC-compliant business cases across the various phases of the Treasury BBC methodology
• Contribute to Budget bid and investment planning information
• Plan for and manage team resources to ensure successful and timely delivery
• Production of timely and accurate project, programme and governance reporting.

• Solid organisational skills, able to plan and prioritise their own as well as team responsibilities.

• Demonstrated project delivery and business casing experience
• Project Management certification (Prince2, PMP etc) or equivalent experience.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Knowledge of several delivery methods and techniques.
• Good working knowledge of project governance

• Have qualified under CEP or a previous Career Progression Framework at the level you are applying for.

Salary

This position is covered by a collective agreement and salary will commence at $142,124 dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.
