Job summary

Tranzit Group is seeking an experienced workshop leader to oversee a major bus refurbishment project at our Seaview Panelshop in Lower Hutt. You will manage planning, timelines and vehicle throughput while staying on the shop floor with the team to ensure quality and timely delivery.

You’ll coordinate internal and external work, drive improvements, lead a capable team, and provide regular progress reports. A Class 2 HV licence and hands-on supervisory experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience in panel beating, coaching building, commercial vehicle painting or heavy vehicle repairs.
• Experience in a workshop supervision or leadership role, including fleet refurbishment programmes.
• Project management within a workshop or similar environment.
• Strong organisational and planning skills.
• Hands-on leadership style with the ability to influence teams.
• Balancing project management with hands-on workshop involvement.
• Strong reporting and communication skills.
• Class 2 Heavy Vehicle Drivers Licence.

Responsibilities

• Lead refurbishment programme from planning through to completion.
• Monitor project timelines, milestones, and vehicle throughput.
• Work closely with panel beaters/auto painters to ensure quality standards.
• Be visible and actively involved on the workshop floor every day.
• Manage refurbishment work completed by internal workshops and external suppliers.
• Coordinate external paint and panel work where required.
• Provide weekly project reports, documentation and progress updates, including risks and delivery barriers.
• Liaise with internal and external stakeholders as required.
