Job summary

Te Puia in Rotorua is seeking a dedicated Bus Driver to transport guests to and from their accommodation for our evening experience, Te Pō, and other functions. Applicants should be comfortable with afternoon and evening work, weekends, and holidays.

Join us to share Māori culture with visitors from around the world, while upholding manaakitanga and delivering excellent customer service in a tourism setting.

Qualifications

  • Full New Zealand driver licence with a clean driving record.
  • Appropriate passenger vehicle or coach endorsement and credentials.
  • Experience caring for vehicles, including logbooks and checks.
  • Experience as a driver, ideally in tourism, guiding, shuttle services or customer-facing roles.
  • Good time management with punctual and organized approach.
  • Interest in traditional Māori culture, tourism and sharing meaningful experiences.
  • Basic te reo Māori with ability to greet and explain concepts clearly.
  • Friendly, professional approach and passion for manaakitanga and customer service.
  • Available to work afternoons, evenings, weekends, public holidays, and summer season.

Responsibilities

  • Provide shuttle services for guests to and from their accommodation for Te Pō and other events.
  • Ensure safety and comfort of passengers during transport.
  • Maintain vehicle logs, conduct basic fleet checks and reporting.

Mō te tūnga | About the role:

Join our Visitor Experience team as a Bus Driver and be a key player in ensuring our guests have a seamless and memorable journey. You will provide shuttle services for our manuhiri, transporting them to and from their accommodation for our evening experience, Te Pō, and other special functions.

Applicants must be comfortable with afternoon and evening work, including weekends and holidays.

Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu | What you will bring:
  • A full New Zealand driver licence with a clean driving record.
  • The appropriate licence class, Passenger Endorsement, and credentials to safely operate passenger vehicles or coaches.
  • Experience caring for vehicles, including completing logbooks, vehicle checks, and basic fleet requirements.
  • Experience as a driver, ideally within tourism, guiding, shuttle services, or another customer-facing environment.
  • Good time management skills, with a reliable, punctual, and organised approach to work.
  • An interest in traditional Māori culture, tourism, and sharing meaningful experiences with visitors.
  • Basic te reo Māori, with the confidence to greet and welcome manuhiri, and explain Māori words, concepts, and experiences in a clear and simple way.
  • A friendly, professional approach and a genuine passion for manaakitanga and great customer service.
  • Availability to work afternoons, evenings, weekends, public holidays, and throughout our busy summer season.
