Mō mātou | About us:

Te Puia is one of New Zealand’s most iconic visitor experiences, set within the historic Te Whakarewarewa Geothermal Valley and home to the world-famous Pōhutu geyser, bubbling mud pools, native kiwi, and the New Zealand Māori Arts and Crafts Institute.

As an iwi-owned organisation, we are proud to share our culture, our people, and our whenua with manuhiri from Aotearoa and around the world. For generations, Te Puia NZMACI has upheld and protected Māori arts, culture, and storytelling, and we continue to carry that legacy with pride.

About the role

As we get ready for another busy summer season, we’re looking for a friendly and reliable Kitchen Attendant to join our team.

This is an important hands‑on role that helps keep our kitchen running smoothly. You’ll support the team by keeping kitchen and food preparation areas clean and organised, clearing dishes, receiving and handling food deliveries, and helping with basic food preparation when needed.

This fixed‑term role will support us through our peak summer period, with an expected start from mid‑September through to April 2027. Because this is our busiest time of year, we’re looking for people who have strong availability across the season, including weekends and public holidays.

If you enjoy being part of a busy team, take pride in keeping things clean and organised, and want to contribute to a memorable experience for our manuhiri, we’d love to hear from you. A full position description is available on request.

To be successful in this role you will have:
  • Basic knowledge of all areas of a commercial kitchen
  • The ability to work well in a fast‑paced environment
  • The ability to work autonomously, but also within a team
  • High standards of personal hygiene and appearance
  • A positive attitude that emphasises and encapsulates the values of Te Puia
  • Full availability to work throughout the summer period, including weekends and public holidays
Nōu te rourou | What’s in it for you:
  • Training and development opportunities
  • The chance to work in one of New Zealand’s most iconic tourism and cultural experiences
  • Access to wellbeing initiatives, including EAP support
  • Enjoy a free lunch once a week, along with other exclusive food offerings.
  • The opportunity to contribute to a legacy of culture, manaakitanga, and tourism excellence
