Job summary

Tauranga City Council is seeking a Building Control Officer with current residential or commercial processing competency for a flexible, people-facing role in Tauranga. The position supports a mix of permanent full-time, part-time, fixed-term, or casual arrangements to fit your schedule.

You’ll join a supportive Building Services team that ensures buildings are safe, compliant and fit for people who live, work and visit the city.

Qualifications

• Current residential building consent processing competency.
• Current commercial processing competency.
• Regulation 18 qualification under the Building Regulations.
• Experience assessing building consent applications, plans, and supporting documentation.
• Strong knowledge of the Building Act, Building Code, and related regulations.

Responsibilities

• Assess building consent applications and plans.
• Provide clear guidance to customers, designers and industry professionals.
• Support flexible working arrangements across FT, PT, fixed-term or casual periods.
