Job summary

Tauranga City Council is seeking an experienced Building Consent Processing Officer to support residential and commercial consents with a flexible, hybrid work pattern in New Zealand. The role emphasizes processing competency, regulatory knowledge and customer-focused decision-making to support Tauranga’s growth.

Flexible arrangements include permanent full-time, part-time, fixed-term and casual work on either remote or onsite settings, with benefits and a supportive Building Services team.

Qualifications

• This campaign seeks candidates with current residential or commercial processing competency.
• You’ll bring: current residential or commercial processing competency; Regulation 18 qualification; experience and knowledge as listed.

Responsibilities

• Assess building consent applications, plans and supporting docs.
• Ensure compliance with Building Act, Code and related regulations.
• Communicate clearly with customers, designers and industry professionals.
• Work independently with practical, customer-focused approach.
• Support flexible, hybrid working arrangements.
