At Christchurch City Council, we're committed to delivering high-quality building consenting services that support a safe, resilient and thriving city. We're looking for a highly organised and customer-focused Building Consent Processing Coordinator to join our Building Consenting team.
This is a pivotal coordination role that sits at the centre of our commercial processing operations, ensuring building consent applications are allocated efficiently, statutory timeframes are met, and customers receive a seamless experience throughout the consenting journey.
Working closely with Team Leaders, Building Control Officers, external Building Consent Authorities, contractors and customers, you'll coordinate workflow allocation, monitor processing performance, manage team communications, support quality assurance activities, and provide valuable reporting and insights that help drive continuous improvement.
No two days will be the same. You'll balance competing priorities, solve problems, coordinate multiple stakeholders, and help ensure our processing teams have the information and support they need to deliver excellent outcomes for our community.

You'll be an organised and proactive coordinator who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys bringing structure, clarity and efficiency to complex processes. You're someone who can build strong relationships across all levels, communicate confidently with a wide range of stakeholders, and maintain a strong focus on customer outcomes while managing competing priorities.
Ideally, you'll bring:
A tertiary qualification at Level 5 or above in Project Management, Building, Environmental Services, or a related discipline is desirable, although equivalent experience will also be considered.
Most importantly, you'll bring a positive attitude, a commitment to quality, and a genuine desire to contribute to a service that helps shape the future of Christchurch
