Job summary

Natural Habitats in Whangarei is seeking an experienced Landscape Builder to create premier landscapes for clients in Northland. You will contribute from site set-out to planting, with involvement in timber structures, paving and lawn care, working with a supportive team.

You will bring 5+ years in landscaping or related fields, be able to read plans, and have strong communication and a safety-first mindset. On-the-job training is provided to help you grow.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' experience in Landscaping, Construction or similar setting out sites.
• Good level of fitness and communication skills – you’ll be actively moving and lifting all day.
• Willingness to learn and grow.
• A commitment to health and safety practices that creates a safe working environment for the team and others on site.
• Full class 1 driver’s license.

Natural Habitats – Whangarei, North Island

We are seeking an experienced Landscape Builder / hard landscaper, with building, paving and concreting experience, to assist in creating beautiful commercial and residential yards in the Whangarei area.

As a landscape builder your main responsibility is to ensure that your work quality is of the high standard that our clients demand. This includes sharing your expertise and being a team player. You’ll also get involved in doing everything from site set-out to planting, construction of outdoor timber structures, formwork, paving, lawn care and much more as this is a team-based role.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

Landscape Construction – reading construction plans, you install hard scapes and/or soft scapes to our clients' specification.

Quality - your work is of the highest standard, you are thorough and take pride in your work. What you don't know yet, you'll learn from your Project Manager, Site Supervisor or Site Manager.

Health & Safety - you make sure you and your workmates go home unharmed every day.

Teamwork - you'll be an active team member, encouraging your team to complete assigned work to a high standard, while having all the support from your team leader, site supervisor and project Manager in maintaining great relationships with clients.

About You:

You’ll have a passion for landscaping, have a strong work ethic and enjoy being on the tools. You're a team player, willing to learn and ideally already have extensive experience in paving using both mortar and sand base materials, accurately working to drawing/building levels and working in unison with our site teams to achieve deadlines.

You will also have considerable experience in the correct use of power tools. (ideally including heavy machinery) and get immense satisfaction from completing a project and pleasing clients. You will enjoy sharing your knowledge with others and are adept at communicating and collaborating with your team.

Requirements:

5+ years' experience in Landscaping, Construction or similar setting out sites.
A good level of fitness and communication skills – you’ll be actively moving and lifting all day.
Willingness to learn and grow.
A commitment to health and safety practices that creates a safe working environment for the team and others on site.
Full class 1 driver's license

Advantageous but not essential:

Carpentry and concreting experience
Horticulture Qualification Level 4
First Aid & Site Safe certifications
Ability to drive a Manual vehicle and operate digging machinery
Class 2 driver’s license
WTR certification
