Job summary

DB Breweries, part of the HEINEKEN global family, is seeking a Laboratory Technician for our Waitematā Brewery on a 9-month fixed-term contract. This is an excellent opportunity for a 2nd or 3rd year university student studying Science, Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a related discipline to gain hands-on experience in a world-class manufacturing environment.

Reporting to the Laboratory Manager, you will perform laboratory testing, assist with quality control, maintain records, follow

Qualifications

• Currently studying towards a degree in Science, Food Science, Food Technology, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a related field.
• Ideally in your 2nd or 3rd year of study.
• Strong attention to detail and good organisational skills.
• A genuine interest in quality, food production, and laboratory work.
• The ability to follow procedures and maintain accurate records.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• A proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
• Previous laboratory experience through coursework, research projects, or part-time employment is advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Performing accurate and timely laboratory testing and analysis
• Supporting quality control activities across the brewery
• Maintaining laboratory records and ensuring data accuracy
• Following laboratory, quality and food safety procedures
• Supporting the Heineken Laboratory Star System (LSS)
• Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives
• Actively promoting and supporting a safe working environment
• Working collaboratively with brewing, packaging and quality teams
