Job summary

DB Breweries Limited invites a Laboratory Technician to join our Quality team at Waitematā Brewery on a 9-month fixed-term contract. This is an excellent opportunity for a 2nd or 3rd year university student studying Science, Food Science, Food Technology, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a related discipline to gain hands-on experience in a world-class manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Currently studying towards a degree in Science, Food Science, Food Technology, Microbiology, Chemistry, or a related field.
• Ideally 2nd or 3rd year of study.
• Strong attention to detail and good organisational skills.
• Genuine interest in quality, food production and laboratory work.
• Ability to follow procedures and maintain accurate records.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
• Previous laboratory experience through coursework or part-time work is advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Perform accurate and timely laboratory testing and analysis.
• Support quality control activities across the brewery.
• Maintain laboratory records and ensure data accuracy.
• Follow laboratory, quality and food safety procedures.
• Support the Heineken Laboratory Star System (LSS).
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Promote and support a safe working environment.
• Collaborate with brewing, packaging and quality teams.
